measurements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A piece of paper in a drawer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A note jotted down in a hurry whilst the next customer waits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not because the professional is disorganised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It\u2019s because he\u2019s been working like that for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And that system works\u2026 until it stops working.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The real problem isn\u2019t the measures<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When people talk about digitising a sewing workshop, they usually think straight away of recording measurements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But the measures are rarely the biggest problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tricky bit is remembering everything else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For example:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Which fabric did that customer choose?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was the dress V-neck or strapless?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Was the test scheduled for Thursday or Friday?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Had I asked for the hem to be raised by one centimetre?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Has the first quote been received yet?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When a workshop starts to grow, each customer ceases to be merely a set of measurements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It becomes a project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And every project generates information.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1536\" class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I\u2019d like to dispel a myth here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notebooks aren\u2019t bad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In fact, many professionals continue to use them because they are quick, convenient and have been part of the trade for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The problem arises when the notebook becomes the only place where the information is stored.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because a notebook doesn\u2019t allow you to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>search by name;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>filter customers;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>access from another device;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>share information with a colleague;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Recover data in seconds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is not a question of abandoning the traditional method.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The aim is to avoid relying solely on him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The difference between storing information and being able to find it<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s a huge
